Jus single variety English apple juice is made from high
quality apples. The apples can be dessert, usually medium to sweet
in flavour; culinary, sharp to medium; or cider fruit. Varieties
are always pressed separately.
The apples are milled and pressed as in cidermaking and then pasteurised in
bottle to preserve the juice. Nothing is added to the juice, ascorbic
acid is used as an anti-oxidant There is no filtering of the juice,
which may be clear or cloudy, depending on variety and age of the
apple.
Flavour changes slightly over the season, the later the apple is
pressed in its season, the sweeter and usually cloudier the juice,
hence tart apples picked later, mellow to become sweeter. Some varieties
may be grown organically. The range of juices available varies as
the season progresses. Some early juices may sell out quickly because
they are from rarer old varieties so supplies are limited.
It is recommended that the juice is drunk within one year of purchase, although
it will keep longer if unopened. After opening, keep in a refrigerator and drink
within a few days.
We regard our juice as a high quality drink, which can be used where a non-alcoholic
equivalent to a wine is required
