Leominster in Bloom

Fruit and nut Tree Project for Leominster

In and around Leominster throughout the year

The aims are to plant fruit and nut trees in and around the town and on all school grounds. Also to include community groups, businesses and individuals in planning, planting, care and finally use the fruit.

These trees will belong to the community, fruit available for the community. Trees will be funded by sponsorship. This money will be used to but more trees and for further LIB projects for the town.

Try to encourage young people to take and interest by nominating "Tree Champions", who will be taught how to care for the trees. This should foster interaction between the generations, and an old-fashioned passing on of knowledge.

The project should connect with Leominster's history, and help to bring a sense of community and pride.

Mr Adrian Long, Principal of Earl Mortimer College, is spearheading the project. Twenty treese from Frank Matthews have been reserved from the school, and will be planted soon. Four trees have already been sponsored.
